It is predicted that in 2030 the population will increase heavily and will be 8.5 billion. By that time we will have less resources and less food. To feed people in 2030, if we don’t start to eat insects, we will need to double the crop production. This is why we need to start eating insects. Insects have many benefits and we should start eating them because they are nutritious, economical, and can't share diseases with us.

Do you need a food that can be very helpful for diets? If the answer is yes, then insects are the right food to eat.  Insects can be considered a fit food since they have many proteins. Insects are considered highly nutritional because they are rich in protein, healthy fats, iron, and calcium, and low in carbohydrates. Insects alone could be perfect for a balanced diet. Insects also have a good amount of calories. For example, 100 grams of cricket contains around 121 calories, 12.9 grams of protein, 5.5 grams of fat, and 5.1 grams of carbohydrates. While 100 grams of ground beef contain around 23.5 grams of proteins, 332 calories, and 21.2 grams of fat. This shows how good it could be to start eating insects. ( Whiteman)

Food waste is an important argument to think about. We need to start wasting less food because in a short time our population will increase heavily and we will need to be prepared for that moment. Insects could help us increase our food and decrease our food waste. With 10 kg of feed we can produce 1kg of beef or 3kg of pork or 5kg of chicken or 9kg of locusts. This shows how convenient it would be to start eating insects. We would waste less food and we would increase the food we have. (Dicke)

Do you want to live in a safe environment and have a healthy life? I am sure you want to live a good life and for this reason I recommend eating insects. Some animals we eat share some characteristics with humans and this means we also share some diseases. By sharing some diseases we could create new viruses or get sick. By eating insects we would avoid this since we don’t share characteristics. If you want to have a safe environment you should choose insects instead of other meat. I say this because if you choose 1 kg of beef then there will be much more manure then if you choose 9kg of insects.(Dicke) By having less manure we avoid the contamination of both surface and ground water with manure that may be carrying pathogenic microorganisms and chemical contaminants such as heavy metals. By choosing insects you also have much less waste and there will be less ammonia and fewer greenhouse gases. We would avoid possible deforestations and an increase in the demand of food. This means that the environment will be safer. (Imathiu)

In conclusion, I recommend that you start to think about the future and about eating insects. We need to try and guarantee the best future possible to live a good life.I am sure eating insects is not as bad as many people think and I also think you should try it. I think you should start to adapt because insects will surely become the food of the future.

  1. I found your blog a little bit boring in my opinion, but it's still a good blog! You provided good facts about insects and why we should eat them, but I would never think about eating them myself! The hook is a little bit bland, but good! Good work!

  3. Hi Daniels, I like your blog because it is very well written and you have valid points, in fact, I agree with the fact that "FUTURE" and I will say it again Future generations should start eating insects even though I believe that most people want those eight-legged cuties as far away from them and their mouth as possible.
    Good job!
