Food Waste Reduction
How to Reduce Food Waste?
Did you know that there is one thing that flex tape can't fix? It's the fact that people waste food and don't even realize it! If we keep going on like this, we will eventually run out of food and starve to death. Many people are already starving in some countries due to lack of food, so to help everyone, we can stop wasting food. The 3 best ways to stop wasting food are to plan for our meals, learn how to store food properly and use the food remains for something else.
The first way to stop wasting food is to plan our menus. Planning for the future can mean a couple of things. For example, you can plan what you would like to eat. You can set up a grocery list with all the necessary products you need. Once you go shopping, ignore everything else and only get what you wrote on the list. Usually people buy extra things and sometimes don’t even buy what they intended to buy. This causes people to buy a surplus of food and some of it goes to waste due to the expiration dates or rotting. Expiration dates are also a good thing to keep in mind. Of course it is better to buy food which is fresher, but you should also try to buy food which will soon go bad. Since you planned what you would eat, you will already use the food and it won't go to waste.
The next way to stop food waste is to learn how to store it properly. It is pretty easy to do this step, because many packaging has it written on if you should refrigerate it after opening, or you can leave it in the cupboards. Some packaging has also written on it that you cannot store it in hot areas, which does not necessarily mean to store it in the fridge. You can easily put it in a room which isn't too warm. That can be the basement or if you really want to take extra precautions, in the refrigerator.
The last way you could stop food wasting is to use the remains of your food. For example, you can use some remaining chicken from your last dinner and put it in a salad for your lunch. Or you can make a chicken pot pie or even a wrap. Not only that, but you can also use food that's going bad instead of leftovers. For example a banana. You can smash it and bake banana bread or you can make a breakfast smoothie. It is all up to you what you would want to make. If by any chance you can't make anything out of it, the best way to dispose of the remains is to compost them. It is very good, because after a while, it will pile up and then you can use it as fertilizer to grow more food. If you don't want to grow your own food, you can give the fertilizer to someone else who does.
These are only some ways you can stop food waste, but they are also effective ways. If you follow these tips, you can definitely help the world even if it's just a little.

Planning and storing food is a thing everybody needs to do because it is very helpful. I store my food properly and I plan my menu and this makes everything more simple.
