Why should we continue damaging our planet for this selfish reason? There are plenty of alternatives among which plant based foods. According to  www.beyondmeat.com/products they are just as tasty, juicy, crunchy etc. as actual meat. The only difference is that now you are benefitting the planet. This is the perfect demonstration that you can have the best of both worlds. You can eat an alternative of meat that has 0 esthetic or tastable differences and at the same time help the planet recover from food waste. Although this is a good alternative some people might not like it or get bored of this alternative, so that’s why there are so many more to try.

If starting to eat plant based foods doesn’t convince you, you can try eating tofu, tempeh or seitan. They can also be very similar to meat taste wise but they for sure are a much healthier option. Let’s compare one medium pork chop and seitan. A medium pork chop contains 190 calories, 24.9g of protein, 9.45 fat, whilst seitan contains 140 calories, 28g of protein, 2g of fat. This comparison evidently indicates that seitan is a much healthier option. It has less calories, much more protein which gives you strength, and it has a low percentage of fat which is sufficient to give you energy without having an excess of fat and start storing it in your body. You clearly have nothing to lose, you get something similar to meat but much healthier and you are contributing to the abolishment of food waste. You are not only doing yourself a favor by choosing a healthier cuisine, but you are also helping in a great way the planet.

Some people may be intimidated by the sudden change from eating meat to absolutely no meat. They can also feel discouraged as this new style of eating isn’t very practiced and they don’t want to be the only ones adopting this new lifestyle. One of the solutions to solve this problem is the opening of restaurants based on the beyond meat menu which informs people about this underestimate problem and encourages them to take action in this initiative to help our planet. This way people will have the opportunity to spread awareness and sustain our planet.

In conclusion we should spread more awareness since this problem isn’t talked about enough and very few people are aware about what is happening. To help our planet at the moment the least we can do is “sacrifice” our eating habits to slow down the process of food waste and eventually cease it. If we think about it isn’t that hard because there are many options that we can choose. This is also positive for you because you can get out of your comfort zone by trying new things, these eating habits are healthier for you and you can be proud of yourself as you are doing the planet a huge favor.
